Access hole cover scanner
Description:
Dale was used as a consultant for the design of this robot used to scan an Access Hole Cover located 80 feet underwater. The scanner moves a transducer package (7 transducers) around the circumference of the access hole cover while moving the transducers in and out radially.
Application:
Used in the Nuclear Power Industry for deep water examinations. Can also be used to remotely examine covers or plate material in a hazardous environment.
Design Highlights:
Light weight and portable, bright colored anodized aluminum parts make it easy to view with cameras underwater.
Benefit:
Determines if an Access Hole Cover is defective without having to remove material and test.
