dna synthesizer
An automated monomer building machine that uses a special interface for the high-speed activation of nine-position axes. Hundreds of outputs control the high-speed fluid dispensing valves. Engineering By Design expanded the process capability through the addition of mechanical components that can be controlled via a standard IBM-compatible PC.
Used during the DNA analysis process or to generate new chemicals in standard 8x12 format microtitre trays.
Designed electro-mechanical components to interface with existing PC controller. PC interface allows the operator to control and monitor system activity.
Expanded the number of chemicals that could be mixed in one microtitre well from 14 to 70.
