June 1985: Dale Henson, Novato CA, opens a new engineering business after resigning a position as Equipment Engineering Manager at Fairchild Semiconductor’s Discrete Division ahead of plant closure. While at Fairchild Dale Henson designed several automatic machines that completed a diode test and finishing line. Areas of design included lead straightening, electrical testing/sorting and digital marking ink distribution. Later, while managing an engineering group that included design, manufacture, software and PC board design Dale designed a machine that subjected a high-reliability diode to axial tension while heating it and conducting a forward voltage breakdown test (hot VF). All handling machine incorporated magnetic bulk and individual diode handling at rates of 10 units per second.
