May 1998: Dale Henson, of San Jose Ca, invented a 3-way valve that can withstand the high temperatures associated with in-line process heating (up to 1,000o F).  When an air heating process has to interrupt air flow in response to a line stoppage the heater can burn up unless the power is turned off.  It is then necessary to reestablish proper process air temperature over an extended time.  The divert valve allows the heater power and air flow to be maintained while the hot air is diverted to a safe area until the line flow is restored.
