Many of the projects that Engineering By Design undertakes require machine control and a certain level of programming. We understand the full parameters of our customers’ need and provide custom software solutions for each application. In addition, we also use motion studies to position the controls for maximum ergonomic efficiency. If the project requires Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, Graphical User Interface (GUI) programming, Galil motion control program language, or large-scale programming using Visual Basic, C++ or any number of software programming languages, Engineering By Design has the resources to fill the need.
Our custom software primarily provides machine control using PLC’s. We can do any kind of software for machine control including PC’s and integration of software packages such as vision and robotic operation. Our Data Acquisition software for collecting information on process parameters, allows us to log variables for a specific tool or process. We use a variety of tools in our programming including C++ Builder, Visual Basic, LabView and WonderWare. Our experience allows us to match the tools to a customer’s needs. We are smart enough to speak in any language.

Required any time process parameters are essential to the quality of a tool’s performance or where the information is required for later review and / or archive proposes.
We have used a variety of tools for this purpose, including C++ Builder, Visual Basic, LabView and WonderWare.

During the design of a tool or machine Engineering By Design takes the extra step to ensure that the product is comfortable to use. Touch screen technology is used when the operator interface requires repetitive entries or large amounts of data.
For example, foot pedals were designed into this machine in the early stages of project. The operator had to work in the same position during the entire shift. The foot pedals allowed the operator to perform some of the tasks with their feet. The foot pedals adjust in height and distance from the operator. This is done by pushing a single release button with one foot while pushing the pedals into a comfortable position with the other foot.
